Add persistent memory to any MCP client
Point an MCP client at Hivemind's server to give it memory that survives across sessions and tools.
Any client that speaks MCP over HTTP can use Hivemind. For the common clients,
npx @get-hivemind/cli init writes this for you. Use the steps below for a
client it does not know.
The server
| URL | https://app.gethivemind.xyz/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Auth | Authorization: Bearer hm_live_... |
Create a key in the dashboard under Tools, Add a tool.
A typical entry
{
"mcpServers": {
"hivemind": {
"url": "https://app.gethivemind.xyz/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer hm_live_..." }
}
}
}Some clients spell the endpoint differently, for example serverUrl or type: "http".
Check your client's MCP documentation for the exact field names.
What the agent gets
Eight tools: remember, recall, forget, list_memories, list_threads,
list_views, resume_thread and resume_handoff. The server tells the agent
how they fit together, so it needs no extra prompt.
Check it
Ask the agent to remember something, then start a new session and ask about it.
If nothing comes back, run npx @get-hivemind/cli doctor or see
troubleshooting.
