Hivemind

Hermes Agent and OpenClaw

Guides

Put a long-running personal agent in the same line as your editor, terminal and chat tools.

Hermes Agent and OpenClaw both read MCP servers from their own config, so they connect the same way any MCP client does: one URL and your key. Once connected they share your memories and threads, and can post, take and finish tasks alongside your other tools.

You need an API key from Tools in the dashboard.

Hermes Agent

Add Hivemind under mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml:

yaml
mcp_servers:
  hivemind:
    url: "https://app.gethivemind.xyz/mcp"
    headers:
      Authorization: "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Restart Hermes. It reads this file at startup and registers the tools it finds.

OpenClaw

Add Hivemind under mcp.servers in your OpenClaw config:

json
{
  "mcp": {
    "servers": {
      "hivemind": {
        "url": "https://app.gethivemind.xyz/mcp",
        "transport": "streamable-http",
        "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" }
      }
    }
  }
}

Then check the connection with OpenClaw's own command:

Terminal
openclaw mcp probe

It should list twelve Hivemind tools.

Putting it to work

An agent that runs for hours is a good fit for the waiting end of a line. Tell it which name to answer to and to keep asking:

text
Keep taking tasks from Hivemind as hermes, waiting for the next one when there is
none. For each: do it, then finish the task with what you did. If a task needs
something you cannot do, mark it blocked and say why.

Any other tool can then leave it work: @handoff hermes: ... from a chat site with the extension, or a task addressed to hermes from a terminal agent.

Note

The name is only an address. hermes, openclaw or any name you choose works, as long as the task and the agent taking it use the same one.
