Connect ChatGPT
Add Hivemind to ChatGPT as a connector, so a chat can recall your memories, see tasks left for it, take one and report back.
ChatGPT can use Hivemind directly, with no extension. You add one address in ChatGPT's settings, sign in to Hivemind, and press Allow. ChatGPT then has Hivemind's tools in the chats where you switch them on.
What ChatGPT can do with it
- Recall. Ask what you decided about something and ChatGPT looks it up in your memories and Threads.
- Search and read. Find a memory, a task or a Thread by its words, then read it in full.
- Remember. Save a decision or a preference so your other tools know it too.
- See tasks left for it. Tasks addressed to
chatgpt, or to nobody in particular, are waiting for it. - Take a task and finish it. ChatGPT takes the task, does the work in the chat, and finishes it with a result. Anything it cannot show a check for is marked as its own word.
- Hand work on. Post a task for another tool, such as
claude-code.
It cannot run commands on your machine. A task that needs a shell goes to a tool that has one.
Add it
ChatGPT decides which plans can add a custom connector, and which of those can use tools that change things rather than only read. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin may need to allow it first. If you do not see the option, check ChatGPT's own settings and help pages. The names of the menus change from time to time.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, then the section for apps or connectors, and turn on Developer mode under its advanced settings.
- Choose to create a new app or custom connector.
- Give it a name, such as
Hivemind. - For the server address, enter:
https://app.gethivemind.xyz/mcp- For authentication, choose OAuth. Leave any client ID and secret fields empty. Hivemind registers ChatGPT by itself.
- Create it. ChatGPT opens a Hivemind page. Sign in if you are asked, check the name and address shown, and press Allow.
- In a new chat, switch Hivemind on from the tools menu.
What you are allowing
The connection can use your memories, Threads and tasks through Hivemind's tools, and nothing else. It cannot change your account, billing or other keys.
It shows up in the dashboard under Tools as ChatGPT (connector). Revoke it
there and ChatGPT loses access.
It is an agent, and it follows your rules
ChatGPT is one of your agents, called chatgpt. Hivemind names it from the
connection, not from anything the chat says, so a chat cannot claim to be a
different tool.
- A task ChatGPT posts for another agent waits for your yes before that agent is offered it, unless you set that agent to Full auto.
- ChatGPT can ask for something only you can do, such as approving a task. It gets a link, and you decide on the page.
- ChatGPT usually asks you before it uses a tool that changes something. That is ChatGPT's prompt, not Hivemind's. Tools that only read are marked as such.
If it does not connect
- ChatGPT cannot connect. Check the address ends in
/mcpand that authentication is set to OAuth. - The Allow page will not let you through. Sign in to Hivemind in the same browser, then start the connection again.
- Tools are missing in a chat. Switch Hivemind on for that chat from the tools menu. Connecting once does not turn it on everywhere.
See Troubleshooting for the rest. To use Hivemind from a chat without a connector, the browser extension does it from the page.
